HISTORY:   1986 - 2011   ( 25 years )

The King's Theatre Christian Trust (KTCT) was initally founded in 1986. And over a 10 year period there were regular combined Church meetings held on a 6 week cycle.

In the beginning KTCT were blessed with the help of Grant McKee the owner of the Kings Theatre who made the facility available for a nominal rent after the Movie Theatre chain had closed many of its cinemas throughout NZ.
Approximately 20 local Churches  were involved over the years and the combined services were a great help in bonding Christians throughout the wider Gisborne District. With a wide variety of guest speakers being drawn from around NZ and across the globe coming to share the love of Jesus, plus the joy of singing in large combined gatherings always lifted and encouraged.
These services gathered people from differeing theological background... with mainstream Anglican, Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist, Salvation Army, Baptist, Elim, Assembly of God, Apostolic, Church of Christ, Charismatic, Pentecostal all sharing the love of Christ in one place.
In the early 1990's with tightening fiscal circumstances taking place across NZ. It was decided that the sad but practical step must be taken - to forgo use of the King's Theatre complex. (We remain forever grateful to Mr Grant McKee (whose father had been a Presbyterian Elder) for the use of the Theatre which for many retains wonderful memories over the years.)
Without the theatre it was proposed that the TRUST name be shortened to 'King's Christian Network' and the combined Church services continued as previously but were held in various church and local halls... through until 1996.
The main focus then shifted to the forthcoming millenial celebrations of 2000... an initiative was developed called 'Reconcilliation 2000' which became the central theme in the build up to the millennial celebrations.
The KCN team along with the local Gisborne Christian Ministers Assoc. worked alongside the Gisborne District Council and the NZ Government along with other national church groups to offer practical help to the wider community through a concept called 'Servant 2000'.
This included:
1: Servant 2000 Task Force - Practical Street Cleaning teams as an act of service. (To help the local GDC cope with the anticipated high number of visitors)
2: Gateway 2000 Christian Camp - hosted by Trevor Yaxley of Lifeway Ministries, Warkworth
3: Millenial Christian Service - on beach front following the main televised celebrations - guest speaker John Dawson (current World YWAM Director)
4. All The World Sing Praise - combined singing celebration as initiated by Cormac & Fiona O'Dufffy of Ireland. (ATWSP was hosted in countries around the globe, celebrating the millennium.)

TODAY:   ( as @ 18 Feb. 2011 )

There is no longer a formal TRUST in place - and the role of KCN is primarily operating in a Networking capacity to the wider Christian community of Gisborne city - and is currently endeavouring to expand, to include all of Gisborne District...

The website being the main focus of KCN nowdays - and this service is freely provided by a small band of sponsors...

1986 - The King's Theatre Christian Trust original Statement of Faith - is as follows

The King's Theatre Christian trust shall uphold the truths of the historic Christian faith including the following items of belief.

1. There is ONE GOD, eternally exisiting in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.

2. God has revealed Himself in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. These are inspired by GOD and therefore wholly trustworthy, and of supreme and final authority in faith and life.

3. Our Lord Jesus Christ, God's own Son, was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived on earth a perfect and sinless human life, died on the cross for our sins as our representative and substitute, was raised from the dead by the Father, and is now exalted at the right hand of GOD, all authority in heaven and on earth having been given to Him.

4. Man was created in the image of GOD, and made to enjoy fellowship with GOD, but disobeyed Him. So sin came in to the world, and death by sin. All have sinned, and are therefore guilty in GOD's sight, under His wrath, and estranged from Him.

5. Salvation is available for all, as the gift of God's grace, through the death of His Son, to all who repent of their sins, and by faith receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord. Such are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of GOD.

6. The Holy Spirit brings individuals to repent of their sins, to trust Christ and live in Him. By the indwelling of The Holy Spirit, the believer is enabled to live a holy life, to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ in the fellowship of the church.

7. The Church is the company of all who have become children of GOD through faith in Christ and have been formed by His Spirit into one body of which He is the Head. The Church is commissioned to go into all the world and preach the gospel to all people.

8. The Lord Jesus Christ as King, will return in person to gather His elect, to manifest His Kingdom in power and glory, and to judge the world in righteousness. Those who belong to Him will with Him enjoy eternal blessedness; those who are outside of Christ will receive eternal judgment.
